Erik Jackson, Lic. Ac. No Comments

So, today I want to address two topics which a number of people have been complaining about. Firstly I want to give some information on dietary planning and then I will speak a bit on insomnia. Now both of these topics tie into one of my focuses, which is fatigue; and, as I have stated before, fatigue can be caused by a dysfunction of bodily processes, or a failure to get adequate sleep. I know others who are incredible people and have done great work, only to be laid low by Parkinson’s, Chronic Fatigue, mental disorders, and other horrible conditions or situations. These conditions wreck their ability to work, ruin their finances, strain their relationships, sap their enjoyment of life, and destroy their bodies.

And for what reason do they suffer? How is any of this their fault?

There is no reason. And they are not to blame.

I am certain that you, or someone you know, has dealt with or is dealing with a tremendous life struggle. Pain is universal, we have all had it or been affected by it at some point. Pain defines and shapes our actions and personalities. It allows us to be more empathetic, but also more jaded. Ultimately, pain has no reason, it just is, and we must manage it.

As this is the first podcast, I would like to spend some time addressing some questions and clearing up some misconceptions people might have about acupuncture. The first question people seem to have is: what can an acupuncturist do? Many people think that acupuncturists just stick needles into someone to help with pain and that’s it. And that acupuncture works by this strange thing called “qi” which sounds like the Force in Star Wars. Well, acupuncture does work on pain and there are several explanations of qi that are rather wild, but there is more to it than that.

Erik Jackson, Lic. Ac. No Comments

Last time, I spoke on the training of acupuncturists and broadly touched on what Oriental Medicine can do for fatigue. Today, I am going to respond to an article about the CDC’s new regulations regarding the use of opioids and talk a bit more about the methods of action for acupuncture.
